Are you successful?

Inspired/taken from the Sunday service given by Yemisi Okosun (GoodNewsHaven)

What is success to you?

To some it’s living in a big house and driving the latest flashy car. While others base it on educational staus.

As a Christian does your success involve God?

Aspire to have divine success (that which is granted by God through obedience to his word)

Joshua 1:8

“this book of law shall not depart from thy mouth but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do accordingly to all that is written therein for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous and then thou shall have good success”

God’s success is different to that of man

Success to God is knowing your purpose and fulfilling it and being a blessing to humanity..

God wants you to succeed in all areas of your life and enjoy it

Psalms 112:1-3

“Praise the LORD. Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who finds great delight in his commands. His children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.”

As long as you put God first in your plans and stay true to his word (be obedient) he will reward you justly. Your success should go beyond earthly desires.

Matthew 6:19-21 illustrates that

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Success starts in God and ends in him
