Reasons why we Fail

Happy Wednesday just wanted to share with you a blessing from my last Sunday service teaching. Better late than never right!!

by Pastor Godday Okosun. (GoodNews Haven)

Despite being a child of God, holding the faith as a Christian, praying daily and all the rituals that come with the package of being a Christian- why are some Christians not successful-why do they fail?

Isaiah 45:3

“I will give you hidden treasures, riches stashed away in secret places so you may recognise that I am the Lord, the one who calls you by name, the God of Israel”

If God is ready to give you/ has already given you all the treasures seen and unseen why haven’t you discovered them yet?

“For Jacob my servant’s sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me”

You are carrying the surname of God which means whatever he represents you become, your destiny has been changed to succeed.

Goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life.

Why do people still experience failure?

1) sin
Breeds failure
When one sins (whatever the sin may be) they are operating outside of God’s plan and principles

Isaiah 59:1-2

” the Lord’s hand is not too weak to deliver you, his ear is not too deaf to hear you. But your sinful acts have alienated you from your God, your sins have caused him to reject you and not listen to your prayers”

God is more than capable and is willing to make someone succeed however human nature/ actions (ultimately sin) gets in the way which can result to failure.

Sin has different faces

** Disobedience **

Biblical example: King Saul

Follow the principles and instructions of God and you will succeed.

King Saul was given the clear instructions for him and his army to destroy the Amalekites – a nation that had been sinnig against God- and everything in their land.

1 Samuel 15:3-9

King Saul followed parts of the instructions, he destroyed the Amalekites but spared King Agag along with their best livestock.

1 Samuel 15:26
Saul’s disobedience cost him his Kingdom “for you have rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord has rejected you from being king over Israel”

Every no to Gods principles brings a no to your success

** Pride **

Proverbs 29:23
a person’s pride will bring them low, but one who has a lowly spirit will gain honor

Biblical example: Uzziah

2 Chronicles 26

From the age of 16, Uzziah was anointed as King by the people of Judah, as long as he followed the Lord, God caused him to succeed. But as Uzziah grew older and realised how powerful he had become his pride destroyed him.

Queencaz Motivation quote:

What your future carries is more greater than what you are experiencing now. You may be experiencing delay however keep your focus on the Lord and he will deliver you to success.
