There are many keys however prayer is the main key for anything that you think is impossible to achieve with your own strength.
Just remember that with God all things are possible..
So why do we sometimes find ourselves thinking that God is not listening?
Do you ever think that your prayer has landed in God’s voicemail box?
Below are some reasons why some prayers go unanswered:
1) Lack of faith/ belief
Jesus finds his disciples sleeping instead of praying
So he said to them why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you will not fall into temptation
God doesn’t ask much from us. All it takes is for one to believe in him and stay faithful to his word and great rewards will follow
If you ask me anything in my name I will do it. If you love me you will obey my commandments.
But it all comes down to fully believing without doubt as seen in Matthew 21:21-22
2) asking with the wrong motives
We all want good things to happen in our lives, but too often we want it now…not later. When it doesn’t happen that way, we are tempted to ask, “When, God, when?” Most of us need to grow in the area of trusting God instead of focusing on the “when” question. (Joyce Meyer)
3) unconfessed sins
I cried out to him for help and praised him with my tongue. If I harbored sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened
Living in sin instead of repenting. Acknowledge your sins and ask for forgiveness
Look the Lord’s hand is not too weak to deliver you his ear is not too deaf to hear you. But your sinful acts have alienated you from your God, your sins have caused him to reject you and not listen to your prayers.
4)we set up idols in our hearts that come between us and God
Create for me a pure heart, O God! Renew a resolute spirit within me
Won’t God give justice to his chosen ones who cry out to him day and night? Will he delay long to help them?
5) Gods word doesn’t dwell within us
If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you.
Taken from Prayers from the Cross by Sharon Paskewitz
“A life of prayer is hard when friends betray you, or do you bodily harm. Jesus prayed about such things. As He was dying he prayed,
“Father, forgive them for they know not what they have done (Luke 23:34).”
A lack of forgiveness makes us insensitive to spiritual things. It hinders our prayers because we focus on the wrong that has been done. Instead we need to let it go and focus on God. Jesus did not want His wants to be anything less then perfect in love”.
